Sukhmani Jassar AKA Dr. Sukhi (pronounced soo-kee)
Dr. Sukhi is a Board certified pediatric dentist. She completed her pediatric dental specialty training at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (formerly know as UMDNJ) in Newark, New Jersey. The program at Rutgers was balanced with significant hospital experiences. As a resident she had a chance to work with severely medically compromised as well as developmentally challenged children. She also received her Master's of Dental Science degree from Rutgers University. Before starting her residency, Dr.Sukhi completed a 1 year fellowship in Pediatric Dentistry from UCLA in Los Angeles, California. The focus of her fellowship was infant oral care. Before moving to Washington state, Dr. Sukhi spent a year working in Texas, trying the Texan heat and BBQ. She decided to move to Washington state to be with her husband, who is a software engineer.
Dr. Sukhi realized her love for children very early on. While in high school, she spent many Sundays interacting with children in an orphanage and volunteered at a Blind school during summer. She has also been a part of the Special Olympics volunteer team, worked on community outreach programs in India, and been on a Mission trip to the Dominican Republic. Dr. Sukhi strongly believes that good oral habits are formed early in life and that a beautiful, healthy smile can have significant impact on a child's development. She understands that every child is unique - and that's what she loves about working with kids! It's never boring or monotonous. The dental visit can be a source of anxiety for some children (and their parents). Dr. Sukhi strives to build a relationship of trust with her patients and their families to help them work through their fears. On a personal note, when Dr. Sukhi is not in the office, she can be found reading, cooking, hiking, travelling, practicing yoga or taking a walk with her husband.
